Nurse-Led Skin Tag Removal in Nottingham
Park Skin Clinic offers skin tag removal in Nottingham using three methods — Plasma Pen, cryotherapy and thermolysis — so your clinician can choose the approach that best suits the size, position and type of each skin tag. As a nurse-led skin clinic with over 20 years of hands-on clinical experience, we begin every treatment with a free 15-minute consultation to confirm the growth is a skin tag before it is removed. Treatment is quick, needs no stitches and is priced from £80 per lesion.
Most treated areas scab over and heal within around 10 days, and you’ll be given clear aftercare advice to support healing. Any growth that looks unusual is referred to a GP or dermatologist for assessment before treatment goes ahead.
What is a Skin Tag?
A skin tag (acrochordon) is a small, soft, harmless growth of skin that hangs from the body on a narrow stalk. Skin tags are benign (non-cancerous), but they can catch on clothing, jewellery or a razor, become irritated or bleed, and many people choose to have them removed for comfort or appearance.
Skin tags usually appear where skin rubs against skin or clothing, including the neck, underarms, eyelids, upper chest, under the breasts and the groin folds. They’re more common in middle-aged and older adults, and can be linked to weight gain, pregnancy, diabetes, friction and family history.

Skin Tag Removal FAQs
Is skin tag removal painful?
Most clients find skin tag removal very tolerable. Depending on the method, you may feel a brief sting, heat or cold, and treatment is usually quick. Your clinician will explain what to expect at your consultation.
Will skin tag removal leave a scar?
Scarring is uncommon but possible. Each method treats the skin tag precisely to limit damage to the surrounding skin, and following your aftercare — especially not picking the scab — gives the best result. Temporary changes in skin colour can occur, particularly in darker skin tones.
How long does it take to heal after skin tag removal?
Most treated areas scab over and heal within around 10 days. Keep the area clean and dry, leave the scab alone and keep it out of direct sunlight until it has fully healed.
Can skin tags grow back?
A fully removed skin tag usually doesn’t return, though occasionally a second treatment is needed. New skin tags can still develop elsewhere over time, particularly if you’re prone to them.
Can I get skin tags removed on the NHS?
Skin tags are harmless, so removing them is usually classed as cosmetic and is rarely available on the NHS. Park Skin Clinic offers private skin tag removal in Nottingham from £80 per lesion, with a free consultation first. If you’re unsure whether a growth is a skin tag, we’ll assess it and refer you to your GP if it needs further investigation.
How much does skin tag removal cost in Nottingham?
Skin tag removal at Park Skin Clinic starts from £80 per lesion. If you have several skin tags, we’ll confirm a personalised price at your free consultation. Our Price Match Promise applies where the treatment, technology and standard of care are equivalent.

Skin Tag Removal Methods: Plasma Pen, Cryotherapy and Thermolysis
We use three methods to remove skin tags. Your clinician will recommend the most suitable one at your consultation, based on the size, location and type of each skin tag.
Plasma Pen
Plasma Pen uses a precise high-frequency electrical current to heat and remove the skin tag, sealing (cauterising) the skin as it works. The treated area darkens and forms a small scab, which falls away as the skin heals.
Cryotherapy
A highly effective procedure, cryotherapy freezes the skin tag using liquid nitrogen, causing the tissue to die and fall away naturally. Particularly well-suited to certain locations and skin tag types.
Thermolysis
Thermolysis uses controlled heat to remove skin tags quickly and precisely, with minimal discomfort. It’s effective across a wide range of skin tag sizes.
What Happens at Your Skin Tag Removal Appointment?
Skin tag removal at Park Skin Clinic follows four simple steps.
- Free consultation and assessment — your clinician examines the growth, confirms it’s a skin tag and answers your questions. Anything unusual is referred on.
- Choosing the method — we recommend Plasma Pen, cryotherapy or thermolysis based on the size, location and type of skin tag.
- Removal — a quick, minimally invasive treatment with no stitches.
- Aftercare — clear guidance to support healing, and we’re on hand if you have any questions.
Aftercare and Side Effects
Most treated areas form a small scab that heals within around 10 days. To help your skin heal well:
- Keep the treated area clean and dry
Don’t pick or scratch the scab — let it fall away naturally - Apply an antibiotic ointment only if your clinician advises it
- Keep the area out of direct sunlight until fully healed
- Follow any additional guidance from your clinician
Common, short-lived effects include redness, mild swelling and scabbing. Temporary lightening or darkening of the skin can occur, particularly in darker skin tones. Infection and scarring are rare. Your clinician will talk you through these before treatment.
New skin tags can develop over time if you’re prone to them. Reducing friction from clothing and jewellery may help.
